Lauren Danzy

Marketing Manager, Communications & Marketing

Lauren Danzy manages the artist/label outreach marketing strategy for SoundExchange, the non-profit performance rights organization that collects statutory royalties from satellite radio, Internet radio, cable TV music channels, and similar platforms for streaming sound recordings. The Copyright Royalty Board, which is appointed by The U.S. Library of Congress, has entrusted SoundExchange as the sole entity in the United States to collect and distribute these digital performance royalties on behalf of featured recording artists, master rights owners (like record labels), and independent artists who record and own their masters. It takes a myriad of outreach efforts to get artists and copyright holders registered to claim their digital performance royalties and Lauren assists SoundExchange’s Communications & Marketing department to realize this goal by increasing visibility of the SoundExchange brand and raising awareness of the organization’s mission among the recording industry via conference participation, webinars, sponsorship negotiation, advertising campaigns and other marketing initiatives. Lauren holds an MBA in Marketing from Howard University and a BA in English from Spelman College. She brings to the table years of sales and marketing, project management, and program implementation experience. Her professional background includes fulfilling account management roles for industry-leading powerhouses like Philip Morris USA and Clear Channel, developing and implementing programs for media giant, Cox Communications, and managing promotions for the youth-focused marketing muscle, Alloy Media + Marketing. While admittedly not musically inclined, Lauren is a self-professed music junkie and drummer wannabe, claiming she’s “Sheila E. in [her] head.” Her favorites range from hometown heroes Outkast (she’s a Georgia peach) to Dixie Chicks with a million stops in between.
